The strategy starts from a new site, whose graphic design is dedicated to the environment that surrounds us, from the renewal of the entire visual identity and from the communication of our fundamental values.

After a graphic restyling, our logo now has a more modern design, always respecting its original version to which we are very linked. Next to a new font and a new payoff, the coloured pinwheel remained, representing the different services offered, the dynamism of the wind and of the company itself.

The graphic theme of the site is a continuous reference to the environment, to the sustainability of doing business made possible by the company’s activity, which works to reconcile business and the environment.

The communication strategy also includes a social channel. SHELTER’s LinkedIn page will bring together all members of our team, with institutional and sector content.

Our company celebrates ten years of activity in 2020. Running again through the mile stones of this first double-digit birthday makes us to look back on where we started and where we are.

The initial small team of 6 colleagues is now a work team of more than 20 people.

Our business is constantly on the move:

  • we have completed international projects and others are ongoing;
  • we have signed new partnerships;
  • a new partner has joined the company.

This anniversary comes at a difficult time for Milan, the city in which we operate, but it makes us to look to the future with optimism. Happy birthday SHELTER.

We work in an international context and, in order to meet the demands of our customers, we have always explored the market trying to identify reliable partners with offices located abroad.

What we were looking for was a company that was active in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. The first contact with RSK Group Limited, an English company, took place via social networks. The collaboration was born after the visit of their Business Director to the SHELTER headquarters, having understood that “we” had a common vision.

The partnership agreement with RSK Group Limited has allowed us to improve the offer of HSE services to our customers abroad (Environment, Health and Safety).

The project that inaugurated this collaboration is also the most important in the ten-year history of our company, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), a gas pipeline that crosses Greece and Albania from the Greek-Turkish border to land in Italy, on the Adriatic coast of the province of Lecce, allowing the flow of natural gas from the Caspian Sea area (Azerbaijan) to Italy and Europe.

A prestigious and challenging project which immediately tested the efficiency of the partnership with RSK.

The good results of the partnership allowed us in 2017 to take over a portion of the shares of RSK Environment Italia Srl, the first headquarters of RSK Group Limited in Italy, actively contributing to company management and being part of the board of directors.The services provided by RSK Environment Italia Srl are complementary to ours, supporting us in the characterization and remediation of contaminated sites.

Everything that can improve a company in commercial, qualitative, organizational and production terms should be considered taking into account the environmental and health and safety aspects.

Ensuring the continuous improvement of SHELTER means customize our services to the Clients requests to sustain their business in accordance with the highest HSEQ standards.

We immediately adopted a quality management system to give us organizational rules that are typical of the large companies operating in international contexts.

This drive was born from the need to create an organizational and cultural context even if in a small reality that can meet the needs of our Clients. The quality management system has been certified according to the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard since 2015 and has helped us to set objectives for diversifying the Clients and the services to be provided.

Our commitment to the environment, health and safety is attested by the adoption of management systems certified in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14001 (since 2019) and UNI EN ISO 45001 (since 2017 initially according to the standard BS OHSAS 18001).

For each individual project, we plan to update the risk assessment / environmental analysis to avoid, where possible, or in any case minimize the dangers in order to make them sustainable, in order to protect workers, public health and the environment.

One of our main targets for 2020 is to achieve the single integrated HSEQ certification.

We have been working on a company reorganization for some time. The goal was to allow senior employees to buy shares of the company, to motivate them, to retain them, to make them feel even more part of our growth strategy, to reward them for what they are doing and also to recognize part of the profits.

The administrative process to get to offer this opportunity lasted a year and led to review the company statute. An auditor and a statutory auditor have been appointed to ascertain the financial statements, so that they are even more controlled.

Arranged the cards, we welcomed Claudio Scura as a new partner of SHELTER. In reality, Claudio has always moved, since the beginning of our collaboration, as if he was a real partner, immediately taking care of the company.

“When they proposed me to join SHELTER, I had no doubt”, Claudio told us, “a group of people with a high human and technical skills that was being born and it going to cover an open market segment, guaranteeing the Client at the same time the professionalism of the major HSE multinationals and the flexibility typical of the small consultancy firms. The facts are supporting us: SHELTER has become a point of reference for Clients at national and international level who continue to trust in our collaborative approach, based on being always close to the Client and making their challenges our ones!”.

Claudio expresses what our company needs to grow:

  • management of human relationships: he has always been respectful of all while requiring the maximum effort to achieve corporate and Client objectives;
  • technical capacity: innovating in the services that the Clients asked for;
  • commercial capacity: he was essential in identifying the RSK partner and in the negotiation that led us to acquire the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project.

Claudio’s formal entry into the company structure was therefore a matter of course.

Welcome Claudio!

We feel we that have a responsibility to society and believe that it is our duty to contribute positively to the Community’s well-being of the community in which we belong.

Our social commitment activities regard both people and the environment:

  • Helping the less fortunate: SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGE” (SOS Children’s Villages) is a worldwide organization that was founded in Austria in 1949 and offers support to children who are without families to care for them and also those who are at risk of losing them. Each child is guaranteed the right to grow in a safe, healthy and welcoming family environment, thus giving them the opportunity to fully develop their potential. In 2012, through this association, we adopted a 13-year-old Ethiopian child at a distance, who was without a father and had been removed from his mother who wasn’t able to care of him due to   economic difficulties. Today, (2020) he is a smart and selfless man who is studying medicine at university.
  • Flowerbed management: we received authorization from the City of Milan to requalify and maintain the flowerbeds located close to our office.
  • Social studies: we contribute annually to support the Leone Moressa Foundation which deals with the study of immigration, multi-ethnic relations and the impact of migration policies, the preparation of an annual report, organizing events, seminars, debates, training courses and awareness raising aimed at improving conditions of social integration.
  • Plastic free program and energy saving in the office:  In 2019, we   stopped using plastic drinking containers in our office and each one of our employees has been using their own personal thermal bottles. We reduced our energy consumption by 30% through the use of LED lighting systems and replaced our air conditioning system with one that is low energy. We also changed the air duct system, in order to optimize air distribution throughout the office.
  • Public transport: Our office is situated in Milan, one of the most polluted cities in Europe. In order to help combat the problem of pollution, we adopted a corporate policy that discourages our employees from using their cars and encourages them to use public transport.
